HOW DO I POSE FOR A PLUS-SIZE BOUDOIR SESSION?
You don't pose yourself. At Boudoir By Lorie, the photographer directs every part of every pose: where to turn your head, where to put your hands, how to point your feet, and where your knees and chin go. Most clients have never done a professional shoot before. Your post-booking questionnaire tells Lorie what you're self-conscious about, so the posing plan is set before you arrive.
During the session, props give you something to lean on and open up more flattering angles, a bodysuit or corset shapes your waist and midsection, and the lighting does the rest. Lorie's goal, in her words, is to get you relaxed enough that you won't look like a duck. Bring lingerie that fits, or borrow from the studio wardrobe; every piece is professionally cleaned after each use, and you'll need your own thong.

WHAT IS PLUS SIZED BOUDOIR?
Plus-size boudoir is a boudoir photography session planned around a curvy body from the start: the set, the lighting, the lingerie and every pose are chosen for the client's shape instead of adapted from a standard shoot. At Boudoir By Lorie in Kingwood, Texas, just north of Houston, that planning begins after you book, with a questionnaire asking what you're self-conscious about.
Lorie chooses poses that show what you love and play down what you'd rather not see, then directs you from head to toe during the session. You don't need to lose weight first, and you don't need any modeling experience. Hair and makeup are included, the studio is a private house with more than ten sets, and the team is all female. In Lorie's words, plus-size is not a criticism but a compliment in boudoir, where curves and softness are praised traits.
PLUS-SIZE BOUDOIR IN HOUSTON: DO I NEED AN OCCASION?
You don't need a reason beyond wanting beautiful photographs of yourself. Plenty of women come to Boudoir By Lorie for an anniversary, a birthday or a wedding gift, and plenty more come simply because it's time. Whatever brings you in, the day is the same: professional hair and makeup to start, more than ten sets to choose from, light and airy to dark and moody, inside a private house used only for photography, with an all-female team beside you the whole way. Sessions run Monday to Friday, and about two weeks later you'll see your images for the first time on a Zoom reveal call. Lorie has photographed more than 7,000 women. Her advice to anyone waiting for a different body is the advice she took herself: the one you have right now is the one worth photographing.

A PLUS-SIZE BOUDOIR SESSION AT BOUDOIR BY LORIE INCLUDES PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND MAKEUP, MORE THAN TEN SETS, AND HEAD-TO-TOE POSING.
Your day starts in the makeup chair with professional hair styling, luxury makeup, a hot towel treatment and lashes. Then you move through our private studio just north of Houston, a whole house where every room is a different set, from light and airy to dark and moody. You change outfits as you go, and Lorie directs every pose. About two weeks later, you see your images on a Zoom reveal call.
